I’m genuinely so grateful you’re here.
January 2026
If you know me in real life – the pace of NYC office life, travel, emphasis I place on exercise, and the general “always on” nature of my world – you know I’m someone who thrives on structure, intention, and action. What you might not know is that I’ve been rebuilding my inner world with the same care and precision I bring to my work and physical fitness.
As part of that growth plan, I want to explore sharing my experiences through writing to my fellow student‑athletes, working women, and professionals across the independent wealth management space.
So moving forward, you can expect a mix of everything that makes up my life right now:
- The independent RIA space: The dynamics of driving consolidation and growth
- Wellness practices (that actually fit into a real schedule)
- RIA M&A, cold outreach, and what dealmaking really looks like behind the scenes
- The habits and rituals that keep me grounded
- The things I’m loving (and learning)
- Former Division I athlete → now navigating finance as a woman
- How discipline, competitiveness, and resilience translate from sport to career
- Little moments or “God gifts” that make life beautiful
Let’s get into it.
Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately –
You build a life you love by speaking to yourself with compassion, respect, and positivity.
Five years ago, I was given the hardcover book You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, and with an M.S. in Psychology, and a deep awareness of how much the mind influences health and well‑being, it resonated with me immediately. Recently, I reconnected with the book through a free audiobook trial on Spotify, the 40th anniversary edition, and I found myself engaging with the audio version in a completely new way. I particularly love the Morning Meditation; it’s a wonderful way to start the weekend, when I have more time in the morning to dedicate to relaxation.
Something else I’ve recently added to my routine is the Activations App by Mimi Bouchard, which offers another uplifting audio source. I use it when I’m moving – walking or doing mundane tasks – and positive self‑talk and affirmations have genuinely helped me step into the happiest, most successful, and most abundant version of myself.
And then there’s the staple of my routine: every day, I walk 30-minutes downtown to the office in Hudson Square and listen to the Daily Rosary Meditation by Dr. Mike Scherschligt. I have over 2,104 completions in the Amen App, which I primarily use to access the podcast. I’ve learned so much about my Catholic faith through the practical conversations between Mike and his daughter, Theresa. This daily commitment has brought me closer to Jesus and sets the tone for my entire day.
A fun fact about work
This month marks my five-year Anniversary at Wealth Partners Capital Group.
I found this role on LinkedIn during Covid as I was preparing to move to NYC. I joined a team of four people in a WeWork, where I made over 60 cold calls from a telephone booth every single day… and now we’ve grown to a firm of over 39 professionals split between Palm Beach, Florida and Manhattan. I’m one of the rare people who actually enjoys cold calls. I’ve retired from the 60‑a‑day grind, but the adrenaline of a good outreach moment still hits.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to have grown from an Associate to a Director. The growth and learning have been incredible, but the real reason I love my job is the quality of the people –personally and professionally. More to come about who we are and whatwe do at WPCG.
I’ll be sharing more about my experience in the RIA M&A space – what I’ve learned from thousands of cold calls, the full transaction process, industry trends, and what it looks like to build and create value in wealth management.
And lastly… something personal
In 2026, I’m givingacupuncture a real try – meaning I’m committed to once a week or at least every other week. As a former Division I athlete navigating a fast‑paced life, I’ve essentially managed to take a “double hit” to my endocrine system: the long‑term residual effects of intense collegiate training paired with the chronic, high‑cortisol environment of a high‑stress lifestyle. You can do all the right things: eat a healthy, high-fat, low-carb diet, incorporate lower intensity workouts (like walking and Pilates), meditate, get bloodwork, and work closely with a reproductive doctor – and still feel like hormone health is a black box. Hormone health has been an area I’ve struggled with for over a year, so I am trying something new with acupuncture!
During my first experience of acupuncture last week, I was humbled by the difficulty I had staying completely still for over 30 minutes with the needles. I brought my husband with me to the first session to give it a try … needless to say, he didn’t make it through the full session and will not be returning. But I’m committed to giving this a real chance and seeing if it works. Stay tuned.
…
Thank you for being here. Truly.
I’m looking forward to building this space with you.
Shannon
